Compress JPEG

JPEGs respond beautifully to recompression — most photos lose half their bytes before anyone can see a difference. This page opens the compressor in JPEG mode.

How to use Compress JPEG

  1. 1. Drop .jpg files. Batches welcome — each row shows its own savings.
  2. 2. Pick target or quality. A KB target for portals, or quality mode (80% is visually lossless for most photos).
  3. 3. Compare and download. Click a row for a side-by-side check, then download singles or a ZIP.

About this tool

JPEG quality above ~80% spends bytes on detail no screen shows. Recompressing at 75–85% typically halves camera-original files with no visible change — the sweet spot this tool searches for automatically when you set a target.

When not to recompress

Avoid compressing a JPEG that has already been compressed hard (blocky gradients, halos around edges) — artifacts compound. Start from the original export whenever you can.
