Compress PNG

PNGs are lossless, which is why they're huge — a screenshot can be 10× larger than it needs to be. This page opens the compressor in PNG-aware mode and picks the smartest smaller format for each image.

How to use Compress PNG

  1. 1. Drop PNG files. Screenshots, graphics, logos — with or without transparency.
  2. 2. Let Auto decide. Opaque PNGs re-encode as JPEG; transparent ones become WebP with alpha intact. Force PNG output if you must keep the format.
  3. 3. Download. Singles or a batch ZIP, with per-file savings shown.

About this tool

PNG has no quality dial — the format is defined as lossless. Real PNG savings come from either switching codecs (JPEG/WebP for photographic content) or reducing dimensions, and this tool is explicit about which one it used on each file.

Keep PNG or convert?

Keep PNG for pixel-precise UI assets, logos with sharp edges, and images that must stay lossless. Convert to WebP for transparent images going on the web (much smaller, alpha preserved) and to JPEG for opaque screenshots and photos.
